Telling and Time with Alison McMahan (online event)

Most writing gurus emphasize "showing" (pushing the narrative forward with action and dialogue that plays out as we read) over "telling" (a summary of events). But telling has its uses, and one of them is to jump around in narrative time. This class will examine ways that telling helps authors convey changes in narrative time, how telling works with symbolism, and how telling helps depict the arc of character change. This workshop is on Zoom and registration is required.
