On Saturday, November 14, 2009, from 9:30 am-5 pm the “Woman with a Movie Camera: Alice Guy Blaché Symposium,” was held at the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Film Center, New York University, 36 East 8th Street, New York. The event was co-sponsored by the Whitney’s Education Department and the Department of Cinema Studies, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University.

On November 6, 2009 the Whitney held a breakfast, opening ceremony and preview of selected films from the program Alice Guy Blaché:Cinema Pioneer, which will run until the end of January 2010.

Alice Guy Blaché: Cinema Pioneer Catalog Release
On November 5th almost all of us who had contributed to the catalog for the Whitney retrospective Alice Guy Blaché:Cinema Pioneer gathered at 192 Books for a panel and discussion on the work of the first woman filmmaker.
